Another thing I'm obsessed with (besides crafting) are my pups! They aren't just my dogs, they're my fur children. They're both mutts we have adopted from shelters, and the two best good boys. I'm always looking at ways to spoil them.
I (okay actually mostly my husband, Kyle) built a herb garden made of an old pallet at the beginning of spring. It was one of our stay at home order projects. Which was just a few months ago, but also feels like a lifetime. Since then, my spearmint and parsley have grown like weeds! Besides looking beautiful and smelling amazing, I was kind of at a loss of what to do with the abundance of herbs. So, I decided to try my hand at incorporating them into dog treats.
These frozen treats are perfect for summer, who doesn't love a popsicle after a long summer day?! The combination aromas of parsley and spearmint smell great and you'll love how much better those pup kisses smell afterwards. Coconut oil is great for your dogs coat and they'll love the flavor of the beef bone broth. You can use other types of broth, just make sure to check the ingredients and avoid any onion or garlic due to being unsafe for dogs. Greek yogurt is a great source of probiotics for their digestion. As you can probably tell, all of the ingredients I am using are from Aldi and organic which is great for avoiding any extra preservatives. Only the best for your furbabies!
Dog Breath Pupsicle Treats Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Parsley chopped
1/2 cup Spearmint chopped
1/2 cup Broth of choice
1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
1/2 cup Coconut oil (liquefied)
Instructions: Combine all ingredients and place into a blender for about 5-10 seconds
Once done, pour into silicone molds. I've tried other ways to freeze treats and these are my favorite as they're super easy to pop out when frozen. I got these super cute molds from Amazon. This recipe will yield 24 treats total when filled to the top. Keep in the freezer until ready to serve (minimum 4 hours).
And that's it! A refreshing, pup-approved treat that is simple, affordable, and all home made!
